The Heritage Ballroom on MacDade Boulevard was packed Sunday evening, when the honorees’ friends, colleagues and family members joined Ciao Delco groups and their guests, to pay tribute to Dan Amoroso and family, owners of Amoroso Baking Company, Dr. Laverne Harmon, president of Wilmington University, and Dave White, owner of DWD Mechanical Contractor and former Delaware County Councilman, at the 27th Annual Associazione Regionale Abruzzese Delco Dinner Dance. The local Associazione Regionale Abruzzese group has been active in Delaware County for many years, with a mission to promote and preserve Italian culture and traditions.
Special guests included U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, candidate for U.S. Senate, who spoke briefly at the beginning of the program. Members of other Italian-American groups in attendance included those from the Christopher Columbus Memorial Association, the Saint Anthony DiPadova Society, Filitalia International, L’Associazaione Regionale Abruzzese Delaware Valley, the Order of the Sons & Daughters of Italy, The Justinian Society and Societa’ Da Vinci.
