Bethlehem Councilman Bryan Callahan is seeking to establish a city Italian festival to bring more shoppers to Main Street. Main Street merchants have been hard hit by this snowy winter and are seeking more events to bring people downtown, Callahan said. The Feast of San Gennaro is a big Italian event in September and Callahan said he'd like to see Bethlehem establish its own local San Gennaro event.
"Every day we had a snowstorm, they basically made nothing. A lot of them are worried they might not make it through 2014," Callahan said of Main Street merchants. "If we could bring more people, just more foot traffic, it would help them a great deal."
