This we highlight Ms. Claudine Metallo as Teacher of the Week. Ms. Metallo is a very engaging and motivated Italian teacher. I asked her, “When did you realize you wanted to be a teacher?” She said when she was younger, her mother was a teacher. Her mother taught for 65 years, so she grew up around it.
I asked her, “Why did you want to be a teacher in Cedar Grove?” She said that the Italian consulate came to the Italian professors at the colleges she worked at and asked the Italian teachers to institute Italian classes in high schools and middle schools. They wanted her to go down to the CGHS and teach Italian and History. She worked at Memorial Middle School for two years and then went to CGHS.
