This season AIM Vernon is showcasing an Italian Christmas, explaining and displaying some of Italy's and Italian-American's heartfelt traditions, with the thoughts and assistance of town officials Councilman Patrick Rizzuto and Mayor Victor Marotta. Many events start on Dec. 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Both Rizzuto and Marotta have an Italian background, their respective families immigrating to America in the late 1890s or early 1900s to gain a better life. With the immigrating families came treasured traditions, especially Christmas traditions.
