On Monday, June 3, 2013, the Lido Civic Club of Washington DC will once again host the annual Italian American Open at beautiful Norbeck Country Club, 17200 Cashell Road, Rockville, MD 20853. The Italian American Open is a showcase event for the Lido Civic Club, which has hosted and organized the event since 1998. Founded by the Holy Rosary Church almost 40 years ago, the Open sells out regularly and in that time period has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to assist the Italian American community in the Washington, DC region. Proceeds from the event benefit Lido Civic Club Scholarship Fund and the Casa Italiana Cultural Center in Washington, DC.
The Lido Civic Club Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to local Italian Americans who are proven exemplary senior high school students bound for college. The Casa Italiana Cultural Center in Washington, DC, supports many Italian American events, the Italian Language School, and a "home" for many new and established Italian Americans in the area.
