The 44th St. Anthony of Padua Italian Festival celebrates all things Italian, and it starts Sunday, June 10, and lasts through June 17. Here’s our annual guide to Wilmington’s biggest festival.
Friends, Romans, countrymen: The festival draws 75,000 people, so you’re likely to run into friends, neighbors and family members. The classic Italian greeting is a double kiss, one kiss on (or near) each cheek. That’s due baci, said Anthony Albence, a fourth-generation parishioner and a member of the festival’s steering committee for a decade. Arrivederci is fine for saying goodbye.
