Rain or shine, there was a prize at the end of the finish line. And that was the motivation of the nearly 100 runners who chose to brave Mother Nature's rainy wrath Sunday and put their best foot forward at the 13th annual Run for the Cannoli at the St. Mauro's Festival. The race is one of the highlights of the decades-long tradition continued by Queen of Heaven Parish on Vine Street in Hazleton.
"We've had a very well-attended festival, even this year," said Father Anthony Generose, who has presided over the parish the last four years. "Except for the rain ... even then, they're still coming out and still coming together."
