Italian music, food and culture filled Roselle Park's Casano Community Center on Sunday, Aug. 16 as residents celebrated Italian Day. "Italian Day was another success in our ongoing effort to salute the background of Parkers as we move ahead as a strong, vibrant community," Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson said.
The event was kicked off by vibrant renditions of the "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America" by Rosie Ronaldi. Joe Degennado followed up with the Italian National Anthem, "Il Canto degli Italiani." Other entertainers included the duo of singer-guitarist John Quatrone and drummer Don Rispoli as well as Degennado, all of whom wowed the crowd with Italian and Italian-American songs. Dancers led by instructors Lou and Sandy of Dance-a-Lot performed routines to some of Degennado's songs.
