At the end of the 19th Century, the first Italians made their way into Clarksburg to find what they called, "big money jobs" in the coal mines but ever since the population has been growing quickly and the atmosphere the Italians bring along is part of what makes Clarksburg so nice, and once a year Clarksburg celebrates it's roots with the Italian Heritage Festival.
"It's really exciting. It's energetic. There's an aroma of wonderful Italian food and you can hear many different Italian singers on the main stage and it's really just a fun family atmosphere to be at," said Tyler Terango, Chairman of the Board for the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival.
