Michael Pitts Sr. said he has been "lucky" to have the life he has been blessed with whether by accident or even by reeling it in. On Sunday, Pitts was honored as the Italian American Society's "Man of the Year" at its annual Columbus Day banquet held Sunday night before more than 300 people in attendance.
Pitts, 65, graduated from Tremper High School in 1968 and Carthage College in 1972, where he received his degree in business administration. A well-known businessman, he worked in the family decorating company with his father and brother before working for the Kenosha County assessor's office.
