The Italian American Society of Kenosha celebrated its 100th anniversary Sunday. The organization held a celebration luncheon and fundraiser at the Italian American Club, 2217 52nd St., for members and non-members. Attendees dined on pasta and examined old photographs and documents detailing the society's history.
"It's pretty unbelievable that we've made it 100 years," said society president Ben Gentile on Sunday. "We've done an event every month, some formal and some informal, this year to celebrate 100 years. It's all very exciting." Gentile, whose been president for about a year, said it took weeks of effort to find and sort through 100 years of society documents and then prepare them for public display.
