Alfred John “A.J.” Capelli, a cherished family physician to many Kenosha residents, died unexpectedly Sunday at Kenosha Medical Center. He was 68. “We are deeply saddened by the sudden, unexpected passing of Dr. A. J. Capelli, a respected and valued Aurora physician and caregiver who made significant contributions to both our community and hospital,” said Doug Koch, president of the Racine, Kenosha and Northern Illinois service area for Aurora, in a statement to the Kenosha News.
Posts on social media expressed shock and sorrow at the news of his death, and an outpouring of love for Capelli and his family. They described him as a doctor who gave “exceptional care” and had a great sense of humor.
