The Wickliffe Italian-American Club recently hosted their first Italian-American Heritage Day, an event they hope to expand on in the coming years. Located at 29717 Euclid Ave., the club’s free event took place June 1 and featured pony rides, face painting and a balloon artist for children, as well as a bocce target game for kids to learn how to play. A strolling mandolin player and a DJ were also featured at the event.
Additionally, Trevi Catering was in attendance throughout the event with food for spectators. The club offered pastries, coffee, Italian beer and wine. “Hopefully next year, we’ll expand it and maybe add some bands,” said Vince Laurie, entertainment director for the club. “A lot of people still have never been down (to the club) or don’t know it’s down here. We have a great facility.”
