Among the events at Festa Italiana in the Frontenac on Saturday, none is more anticipated than the food sampling, where patrons can try a diverse range of food. Despite the Italian undertone, the event will have a variety of cultural food, passed down from early settlers to Southeast Kansas. Proceeds from the event, which is put on by the Frontenac Education Foundation, will go to helping Frontenac students.
"Come to experience the food and help a good cause," said Ann Brown, president of the foundation. "It's bettering the whole community ... and the kids." The food serving and wine tasting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. at the Raiders Sports Complex. The food was prepared and donated by a number of area residents.
