Local Italians — and Italians for the day — celebrated their culture Sunday at Louisville's Memory Square Park, which was decked out in red, green and white decorations for La Festa. Hosted by the Louisville Society of Italian Americans, the 26th annual festival honors the city's Italian roots, raises money for scholarships for graduating seniors and feels like both a reunion and community picnic.
"It's a good gathering for everybody to get together," said Dino DeSantis. "You get to see all the people that you don't get to see every day." Many in attendance wore Italian flag necklaces and shirts that declared their heritage, including "Got Wop" and "Not only am I perfect, I'm Italian too."
