Fine food, cinema and music are planned for the 24th annual Newport Festa Italiana, which starts on Friday, Sept. 14, and runs through Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 8. Forum Lodge 391 of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, the Edward King House and the state’s legislative grants program serve as the major supports of the festival. This year’s events include:

•John Panaggio Original Ziti Night at Vasco da Gama Hall, 15 Fenner Ave., on Friday, Sept. 14, from 5-7 p.m. Adults $18, $5 children younger than 12; proceeds benefit the Anna M. Ripa Memorial Scholarship. To reserve a seat, call 849-7087.

•CineFesta at the Edward King House, 35 King St., on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. An airing of the classic 1960 film “Two Women,” starring Sophia Loren and Raff Vallone, in Italian with English subtitles. Free admission.
