What Rhode Islander could resist a tale of an Italian grandmother who never stopped talking, knit dubious scarves and struggled to cook for her briefly vegan grandson? Seth Lepore, a nationally touring performer who grew up in Johnston, is returning to the stage in Rhode Island to premiere Firecracker Bye Bye, a funny tearjerker about his late grandmother, Nonie. (Yes, he was her favorite.)
As the writer and sole performer in the piece, Lepore will assume the identities of family members ranging from his grandmother to his wife, Sharon. We caught up with him to learn more about the show, which will be staged at Providence's 95 Empire Black Box in early October.
