At 102 years young, Minnie Cucchia continues to amaze family members and friends. Minnie was born Jan. 21, 1917, to Charles and Grace Sciascia, who emigrated from Sicily to Lower Manhattan's Cherry Street. In 1932, the Sciascias relocated to Sunnyside, where Minnie and her seven siblings grew up.
Minnie met Salvatore (Sam) Cucchia and the couple married in St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Lower Manhattan on Dec. 19, 1936. The couple settled in New Dorp, where they raised their daughters, Angela and Grace, and their son, Steve. The Cucchias, who excelled in the art of dancing, shared in a life rich in family and friends, who delighted in partaking in home gatherings and fun get-togethers.
