Over the course of his 50- year career, Alberto Burri developed his artistic path in series, most of which were defined after a dominant material or process: Catrami (tars), Sacchi (sacks), Combustioni (combustions), Legni (woods), Ferri (irons), Cellotex. The most recent in-depth scientific analysis of Burri's works was crucial to demonstrate how extensively the artist experimented with these materials. He was profoundly influenced by the introduction on the market of the new synthetic polymers, which he incorporated, along with traditional pigments and other common industrial products, into his creations.
