To celebrate significant contributions made to culture and the advancement of our society, each year members of the Italian American Women of Staten Island host a gala luncheon for those deserving of recognition.
The "Women in History" event was staged Sunday in the Trevi Garden at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomfield, where more than 200 locals came out to support the cause. Proceeds from the event help fund a scholarship to a female high school senior who is entering college.
