This World War II vet is the oldest member of the Tappen American Legion Post, where he's served as Second Vice Commander since 2007. Meet Sunnyside resident James "Jim" Nichetta, who turns 100 years old on April 11 -- and still thrives on attending meetings and dinners for the military organization he holds most dear.
The proud member of the "Greatest Generation" recounts an impressive war story: When stationed in Okinawa and walking around the camp with another soldier, he spotted a boot hanging out of a tree belonging to a concealed Japanese soldier -- who he subsequently shot.
