As the world celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, as well as Women’s History Month, here on Grymes Hill the Festa Della Dama Luncheon was staged at Casa Belvedere, the Italian Cultural Foundation on Grymes Hill. The luncheon honored three extraordinary women, who each received an award during a special presentation in the new Galleria with a spectacular view of New York Harbor.
In Italy, March 8 marks Festa Della Donna, a jubilant occasion on which women across the nation come together to honor each other and commemorate International Women’s Day, a tradition steeped in tradition for over a century. Originally initiated by Italian feminists, this day has blossomed into a joyous festival adorned with fragrant yellow mimosa flowers, fine wine, and delectable cuisine.
