World War II veteran Edward Colucci purchased his house on Newberry Avenue in 1945, after returning to Staten Island from service in the U.S. Army's 45th Infantry Division, where he saw action in Italy, France and Germany, and was awarded a Bronze Star.
Inheriting a green thumb from his mother, he has been gardening in his spacious back yard on Newberry Avenue, Dongan Hills, for over 65 years.
