Start planning your autumn museum obsession now, because the Metropolitan Museum of Art just announced that it's organizing its largest Michelangelo exhibit ever. The upcoming show, "Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer," will bring together 150 drawings, three marble sculptures and other works from museums and collections across America and Europe. It will also include three pieces (two rarely displayed drawings, and one sculpture) from the Met's collection.
According to The Met, during Michelangelo's lifetime, his skills as an artist across various mediums (drawing, design, painting and sculpture) earned him the title among his contemporaries of "Il Divino" ("The Divine One"). Among the exhibit's highlights will be the Renaissance master's earliest known painting "The Torment of Saint Anthony," a striking depiction of demons attacking the early Christian figure that Michelangelo created when he was just 12 or 13 years old.
