Sunday, July 22nd 3:00 PM - Garibaldi Meucci Museum · 420 Tompkins Avenue · Staten Island, NY 10305 - Kenneth Restrepo is a former United States Marine, who served two tours in Iraq. He has been an artist his entire life. His main source of expression has always been his art. Since he was a child Kenny has spent his free time drawing and emulating some of his favorite artists such as Alex Ross and Norman Rockwell.

While in the Marine Corps, Kenny discovered reflective tape, a highly reflective tape used for search and rescue purposes, which he used as a medium to put images out into the world. Once Kenny returned from the Marine Corps he became a New York City Police Officer. After a few years, he became a tattoo artist and he and his wife opened up Leathernecks Tattoo in Brooklyn, New York, in July 2011.

Kenny recently began making costumes. It started as a project for NYC Comic Con and then gained another cause; to work with the Humble Heroes of NY. The Humble Heroes put on superhero costumes and visit sick and grieving children in the tri- state area. Kenny’s tattoo work can be seen on Instagram @tattoosbykbar, or the shop website LeathernecksTattoo.com.

Kenny will display a combination of his art and costumes at the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum.
