"Victory has a hundred fathers and defeat is an orphan." This quote -- attributed to the Italian diplomat Count Galeazzo Ciano, and a favorite saying of former Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro -- now hangs emblazoned in bronze in the lobby of the St. George Theatre.
On Tuesday, the historic venue renamed its entrance the James P. Molinaro Lobby, unveiling a bronze plaque dedicated to the elected official during whose tenure the St. George Theatre reopened as a non-profit organization in 2004. "Since day one he has been supporting our efforts," said Doreen P. Cugno, the theater's president. She, her sister, Luanne Sorrentino, and her mother, the late Rosemary Cappozalo, co-founded the St. George Theatre Restoration, Inc.
