We are pleased to announce CIMA's fifth exhibition season, dedicated to the fascinating and under-recognized artist Alberto Savinio – painter, writer, composer, critic, and younger brother of Giorgio de Chirico. The 25 works on view in the exhibition, produced after his move to Paris in 1926, demonstrate Savinio's vivid color palette, his fantastical interpretation of myth, and his eccentric vision of landscape.
Select sculptures and prints by Louise Bourgeois are presented in dialogue with Savinio's work, highlighting commonalities including a flirtation with Surrealism, a shared interest in the subconscious, and, most significantly, the profound influence that familial relations had on their respective artistic imagery.
We are thrilled to offer new and expanded hours for our 2017–18 season!
In addition to our signature guided exhibition tours with CIMA's fellows on Fridays and Saturdays at 11am and 2pm, we now offer open hours on both days from 1 to 6pm. 421 Broome Street, 4th floor New York, NY 10013. Registration is required for both tours and open-hour visits.
