In honor of SC’s law proclaiming October as Italian-American Heritage Month (section 53-3-200, signed by Governor Nikki Haley, March 27, 2015), and the recent Friendship Pact signed between Hilton Head, SC and Verona, the IACHH* is proud to announce several fundraising events celebrating a banner year between the Lowcountry and Italy.
In June, 2019, Hilton Head Mayor, John McCann signed a Friendship Pact with Verona Mayor Federico Sboarina, the first step towards a Sister-City agreement. These global municipality relationships were first introduced by Eisenhower in 1956, and have proliferated around the world, as cities find common ground, educational, cultural, and economic benefits in civil partnerships not reliant on national agendas.
Below are the IACHH events planned for October:
· October 2nd, 5:30 – 7 pm – Chamber of Commerce Cocktails and Conversations at Nunzio’s Italian Restaurant + Bar, sponsored by the IACHH, 18 New Orleans Rd. Hilton Head, SC 29928, (843) 715-2172
· October 16th, 5:30 – 7:30 pm – Zin Experience, with Italian Flair, The Shorehouse at the Omni Resort, featuring DJ Monty Jett. Premier wine tasting event with hors d’oeuvres. Tickets cost $20/person in advance at The Wine & Spirit Shop at Shelter Cove (843) 785-2277, or $25 at the door.
· October 26th, 11 am – 4 pm – 10th Annual Italian Heritage Festival at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. Enjoy a day of food, wine, entertainment, local vendors, children’s inflatable section, silent auction, and much more, celebrating Italian-American culture in the lowcountry! Tickets are $6/person, free for kids under 10.
The Hilton Head/Bluffton Community is invited to join the IACHH in commemorating Italian-American Heritage Month in any or all of these events. Anyone who would like to be involved by sponsoring, volunteering, donating, or in any other capacity, opportunities are still available to help. You may check with the website at www.iachh.org, Email; [email protected], or call 401-524-1416 for more details on how to support the lowcountry community through the Italian-American Club of Hilton Head Events.
