This fall, CofC's Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival welcomes Italian director and screenwriter Massimo Gaudioso to the Holy City in honor of the 10th annual film fest. Gaudioso is best known for his screenplays of Gomorrah (2008), Reality (2012) and Tale of Tales (2015), starring Salma Hayek. Gaudioso is one of many writers and directors who will participate in audience discussions at the festival, which runs Oct. 6-9.
Held at Sottile Theatre, Nuovo Cinema Italiano celebrates contemporary Italian cinema and culture. Festival-goers can watch screenings, participate in conversations with directors (like Gaudioso), and attend other special events. The festival will feature a variety of film genres, ranging from award-winning documentaries to comedies and dramas. This festival began 10 years ago as the brainchild of Professor of Italian Studies Giovanna De Luca who continues to expose the Lowcountry to Italian arts, language, and culture. Tickets will go on sale in September. Until then, stay up to date with the fest here.
