The journey of Alessandro Crocco is living proof that the American dream can still be realized, but it requires sacrifice, work, and dedication, all of which are rooted in one’s identity. He has made Italian values and culture the cornerstone of his activities in the United States, while his Calabrian roots have forged a distinctive determination and tenacity essential to stand out and achieve his dreams.
Originally from Acri, a town in the province of Cosenza, Alessandro began his journey carrying with him a suitcase full of dreams and values inherited from his homeland. His journey has not been confined to a single field: Alessandro Crocco describes himself as a serial entrepreneur, with a career spanning various sectors, from food and beverage to real estate and capital investment.
His expertise focuses on international relations and strategic planning, with a particular emphasis on export. He actively invests in companies that support Italian businesses in the American market, demonstrating an innovative and forward-looking vision.
Beyond entrepreneurial success, he dedicates his time and resources to the non-profit sector. As president and member of several humanitarian and Catholic organizations, including ‘The Formation Foundation’ and the ‘Hortus Foundation,’ he supports charitable, educational, and social initiatives. He is responsible for planning and executing fundraising activities, many of which are focused on the restoration and preservation of architectural heritage, especially ecclesiastical and Catholic sites, with special attention to Italian heritage and its historical and artistic integrity for future generations.
In 2021, he was elected President of the Comites of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut with the highest number of votes in the United States. During his term, he worked to strengthen ties between Italian communities abroad and their homeland, promoting Italian culture and values worldwide. In 2022, he was appointed consultant for the ‘Consulta dei Calabresi all’Estero,’ contributing to promoting Calabria’s culture and traditions. Currently, he is the President for the United States of the Confederation of Italians in the World (CIM), with the aim of valuing and representing Italians worldwide through initiatives that strengthen the bond with Italy.
Alessandro Crocco perfectly embodies the saying: “It’s easier to take a Calabrian out of Calabria than to take Calabria out of a Calabrian.” Despite his overseas success, he maintains an intact bond with his homeland, firmly believing in the new generation of emigrants who set out to achieve and grow professionally while contributing to their country of origin’s development.
From this perspective, he asserts that Italians abroad are no longer merely emigrants but true ambassadors of knowledge and innovation, eager to contribute actively to the growth of their home communities. Italy must actively encourage the involvement of these talents, especially in the South, which continues to experience a constant diaspora. This choice not only offers economic, social, and cultural benefits but also strengthens generational ties and promotes innovation. It is a forward-looking approach that can significantly contribute to the progress of Italian regions, keeping alive the connection with those who have left and fostering a fruitful dialogue between Italy and the rest of the world.
His Calabrian roots have shaped his resilience and ability to pursue his goals with passion. In this context, he does not consider Italians abroad merely as emigrants but as ambassadors of Made in Italy, bearers of culture, tradition, and innovation. For Alessandro Crocco, valuing Made in Italy means not only highlighting the quality and craftsmanship of Italian products but also celebrating a heritage of creativity and excellence that can inspire the entire world. It is crucial for Italy to actively support its businesses in the global market, promoting their excellence and consolidating their access to new opportunities. Looking to the future, he envisions an Italy that can shine as a leader on the international stage, not only for its production of high-quality goods but also for its constant commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural values that make it unique. In this way, Made in Italy is not just a trademark but a bridge that connects generations, promotes innovation, and strengthens global ties.
In the name of that American dream and as a commitment to giving back to the nation that welcomed him, today Alessandro Crocco is a candidate in the upcoming elections for the New York State Assembly as a representative in District 92. This new chapter in his political life represents not only an opportunity to serve the local community but also a way to carry forward the values of commitment, integrity, and solidarity that he has always promoted in his entrepreneurial and philanthropic journey. With a keen eye on Italy and the large communities of Italians in his district, he intends to promote the bond between the two nations even as a candidate, celebrating the excellence of Made in Italy and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening transatlantic relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Through his story and vision, Alessandro Crocco not only invites reflection on the potential and opportunities offered by the “Bel Paese” but also urges everyone to join in continuous collaboration to build a future where Italy and its rich cultural heritage are a source of inspiration and guide towards new horizons of prosperity and progress.
