The Boardman High School chapter of the Societ Onoraria Italica, the Italian National Honor Society, the Maria Montessori chapter, recently had its annual induction ceremony on May 15. Sixteen juniors were inducted in the event, as well as one honorary member, Mr. Eric Simione, a social studies teacher at Boardman.
The ceremony featured a performance of the national anthem by Boardman alumnus Brittany Best, taking the society's pledge and the signing of the chapter's ledger by the inductees. The 2015 officers and executive committee led the event, recognizing famous historical Italian-Americans, lighting the candles which represent the chapter's main principles and the presentation of the official banner.
