Teresa and John Sullivan, co-founding directors of Connecticut Academy For The Arts (CAFTA) in Torrington have just returned from several weeks in Rome where they received a scholarship at the Centro Linguistico Italiano Dante Alighieri Institute for professional development as teachers of Italian language, arts and culture.
The scholarship is awarded by the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C. via recommendations from the Italian consulate in New York. The tri-state Italian Consul of Education in New York, Annavaleria Guazzieri, nominated the Sullivans for the scholarship as a result of their CIAO (CAFTA Italian Arts Outreach) Program which they have offered for the past four years to all Torrington District students grades K-12.
