Annamaria Monaco, Suffolk County Community College associate professor of Italian and adviser to the College's Italian Club, has been elected president of the Long Island Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI). Monaco studied at the University of Pavia, Italy and earned a doctorate degree from Stony Brook University in 2004.
Monaco was the recipient of the 2012 SUNY Chancellor Award for excellence in teaching.
