Brothers' business is based in their Italian roots

Growing up in Sicily, Peter Scardina learned the art of Italian sausage. While raising his family in Riverwest, he continued those childhood food traditions.

Eventually, he taught his sons his recipes, and his sausage and spiedini have become the base for the family business. Four years ago, Maria and Peter Scardina opened Scardina Specialties, 822 E. Chambers St., with their sons, Damien and Anthony, who now run the shop.
