Of all Mary Coppola's dishes, none is loved by the Scaffidi family as much as her Italian wedding soup. She has been making this soup for 50 years. "For Easter, New Years – oh they devour it," Mrs. Coppola says. "It's easy to make but too many things to do. My bones wont let me do this anymore, but I still do it."
One of Mrs. Coppola's secrets is to select a chicken with yellow fat. Basil is constantly reminding his mother-in-law, "This isn't the 1960s where you have a butcher who has 'soup' chicken."
