After each meal I had at buzzing new Pecora Bianca (1133 Broadway; 212-498-9696), where I sampled "wholesome," "nourishing" and "lighter" Italian dishes, as the restaurant describes them, I asked myself: Why, after eating so virtuously, did I feel like I'd gained 10 pounds?
Simple: I ate too much of everything. Although this fine new trattoria purposefully targets health-aware eaters with organic ingredients and by doing without deep-frying, none of the salads and pasta I enjoyed was remotely low-calorie, unless you held your intake to a few forkfuls.
