Husband-and-wife restaurateurs Amy Parks and Daryl DeBeech left city life behind to pursue updated Italian fare in downtown Margaretville. After being charmed by rural life in the Catskills during a 2016 visit, Parks said, the pair conceptualized their would-be eatery. Late last month, they opened Trattoria Locale at 520 Main St. The restaurant serves lunch, with plans to introduce dinner and weekend brunch soon.
“We bought a house at that time with the intention of just being weekenders in Roxbury,” Parks said. “We’d been asked by a friend to cater their wedding, so that was what first brought us up here and we really fell in love with the people, the beauty, the space and all there is to offer. Then we slowly started looking for a restaurant space.”
