Caffe Italia Ristorante, a staple at 662 Central Avenue in Albany, is in the process of making its move to Guilderland. The restaurant is taking over the former Tesoro Italian Restaurant at 2080 Western Avenue in Guilderland’s Hamilton Square.
Maria Romeo runs Caffe Italia with her siblings Sue, Paulie, and Michael. Joseph and Joanne Romeo, Maria’s parents, opened Caffe Italia as a full-service restaurant in 1980.“It’s bittersweet,” said Romeo, as Central Avenue has been Caffe Italia’s home for more than 40 years.
