Sofia's Italian Bistro, which specializes in Southern Italian cuisine and wood-fired pizza from Naples, opened June 25 in Mamaroneck. The space had previously been Lum Yen Chinese restaurant which closed earlier this year. According to the website, owners Antonio Mauro and Sammy Reyes, who also own La Vela Dining & Bar on 11th Avenue in New York City, take pride in their specialty pizza, food, hospitality and passion.
On the menu: 14 soft, thin-crust Neopolitan-style pizzas including a Proscuitto Di Parma ($15) with prosciutto crudo, arugula, shaved parmigiano-reggiano and mozzarella, the Tartufata ($15), white pizza, mushrooms, truffle and prosciutto and the Burrata ($15), homemade burrata, grape tomatoes, basil and extra virgin olive oil.
