Mazzaro’s Italian Market made headlines last year for its 854-pound block of cheese—and it’s once again unveiling another slab of the good stuff. The popular Italian market will slice into the massive block on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. sharp (insert cheese pun here) Typically, a forklift is used to get the hunk of cheese into the market, located at 2909 22nd Ave N. in St.Petersburg, FL.
“This cheese is Auricchio provolone, aged over one year and is over 600 lbs. Come on in and taste!,” Mazzaro’s posted on its Instagram today. According to the Ambriola Cheese Company, cow milk-based Auricchio provolone is known for its semi-firm texture and sharp yet, mild flavor. It's usually aged for at least one year.
