Come and learn about the marvelous story of young geologist Giovanni Capellini's journey to the U.S. in 1863, when the relationship between American paleontologists and Italian researchers began. This led to the extraordinary gift of the Diplodocus model by Andrew Carnegie, in 1909. This occasion marks the 200th anniversary of the U.S. diplomatic presence in Florence.
The exhibition will retrace the stages of this extraordinary scientific environment in which the project developed, the special relationship between the business world and the world of research at the time of Carnegie and Capellini, and the long-term effects on the promotion of paleontology as a discipline.
