Rome's Colosseum has attracted 7.4 million visitors in 2018, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to last year, according to the director of the Colosseum archaeological park, Alfonsina Russo. Russo announced the news on 18 December during the presentation of the new logo and interactive website of the Colosseum archaeological park.
She said that "accessibility is a priority" for the park which, in addition to the Colosseum, includes the Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill and the Domus Aurea. The news comes as the Colosseum becomes the world's most popular tourist attraction in 2018, according to TripAdvisor. Italy scored highly on the top ten list, with the Vatican Museums ranked in second place and Venice’s Grand Canal in tenth position.
