Foreign Trade: Italian food Sales still Growing

Exports of Italian food are flying, with a jump of +9.4% on the same period of 2018. This is what emerges from an analysis of Coldiretti on the basis of foreign trade Istat data in May (compared to the same period in 2018). This is the consolidation of the success of Italian food sales all over the world, which grew by 8.3%, for a value of 15 billion euros, in the first five months of 2019.

The foreign demand for Made in Italy food is driven by the boom in exports to the USA, where there has been an increase of +13.7% despite the climate of uncertainty due to the additional duties threatened by President Donald Trump against a series of European products. Good results also in Europe, with an increases of +13.3% in France and +4.2% in Germany. Due to pressure from Brexit, in the same period the sales trend in the UK slowed down (-8.2%).
