On October 4, 2013, the Italian Academy Foundation presented "Maestro" Franco Zeffirelli with the Bravo! award at his villa in Rome. The acclaimed set designer and artist graciously accepted the honor, and his acceptance speech will be presented in absentia at the October 10, 2013 IAF Verdi at Carnegie concert.
Recipients of the Bravo! award are cultural "diplomats" who have excelled in their line of work. Zeffirelli's extraordinary career in the arts makes him one of the world's most accomplished and acclaimed cinematic directors. His set designs for Verdi operas for the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and others connect him to the great composer – as well as to the other great composers of all time.
