Dear all, I am Luca Martera and I've been working as documentary filmmaker and mass-media historian between Italy and the United States since 20 years. Recently I created a video database that gathers the most relevant movies and documentaries from Silent Age to now about Italy and the United States.
I am currently looking for a place to make available this material to scholars, students, italophiles that living in the US. The goal is to create a unique spot where you can find the most complete video collection on Italian American cinema and television. It seems unbelievable but there's no still a place like this in the entire land area of the US.
I called it Media Club because it won’t a boring Center for Media Studies or a snobbish arthouse cinema but a living and friendly cultural place dedicated to the circulation of visual Italian media (movies, documentaries, TV shows, commercials, music videos, comedy, etc.) in the US.
I'm also looking for a patron interested in giving me this place for free naming it as a non-profit cultural activity. In exchange, I can offer my database of 2000 items circa and, as founder, my job will be to set up a rich calendar of cultural events during the entire year.
Through this visual material you can speak of cultural differences between the US and Italy with references to language, literature, art, architecture, food, design, fashion, tourism.
Here's a link to see a preview of the database I built:
