The Italian heritage authority have given the go ahead for the iconic San Siro stadium, the home of AC and Inter Milan, to be torn down. Apart from being home to the two Milan clubs, the San Siro was also used as a venue for the 1934 and 1990 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 1980 UEFA European Championship.
Serie A clubs AC Milan and Inter Milan, respectively owned by USA fund Elliott and Chinese electronic retailer Suning, a year ago filed a request to jointly build a new 60,000-seater stadium in the San Siro area. Although the heritage authority giving the green light doesn't mean the demolition is confirmed, it is a huge step forward.
