"Today's trade fairs and those coming in the near future are and will be very different from those we are used to," said Matteo Marzotto, who for the past two and a half years has been running Italy's premier jewelry fair Vicenzaoro which will kick off this year on September 3.
September's show will involve 1,300 brands coming from 35 countries; and it will bring to Vicenza 400 buyers from 30 countries — a considerable effort, one that is supported by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE). Italy's trade fairs have long reflected the fragmented and regional structure of its manufacturing industry. But authorities are trying to change that by fostering teamwork.
