Francesco Antonio D’Alimonte nacque a Roccamorice, in provincia di Pescara, il 30 marzo del 1871 da Alfonso e Maria Giuseppa Di Martino. Il 18 ottobre del 1900 sposò la compaesana Maria Napoleone nata il 22 aprile del 1881 dai “contadini” Antonio e Regina Ruggieri. L’atto di matrimonio fu certificato dall’allora sindaco di Roccamorice Amadio Ventura e testimoni furono Domenico D’Angelo e Donatemidio Di Nardo.
Nel 1909 Francesco decise, a causa delle condizione economiche della sua famiglia che erano assai difficili, di tentare il “sogno americano”. La famiglia D’Alimonte giunse ad “Ellis Island” sul piroscafo “Neckar”. Francesco dopo aver conosciuto la fatica della miniera trovò lavoro a Sault Sainte Marie, Contea di Chippewa, nel Michigan. Fu assunto dalla Mac Arthur Bros., azienda del settore navale, impegnata in lavori sul canale fluviale.
