The documentary narrates the extraordinary life of Amadeo Peter Giannini, the Italian-American visionary who founded the Bank of America. Giannini was a key supporter of Hollywood legends such as Frank Capra, Charlie Chaplin, and Walt Disney, and contributed to the construction of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
Through interviews, archival footage, photographs, video clips, and dramatized scenes, "A LITTLE FELLOW" serves as a portrait, investigation, and anthology of the character, personality, and cultural legacy of A.P. Giannini, known as the generous “banker of the people.”
Starting as an agricultural producer, Giannini founded the humble Bank of Italy in the heart of San Francisco, which marked the beginning of his rise to the pinnacle of American finance. From pioneering branch banking to establishing the first women’s banking department, Giannini brought a human touch to banking and shattered numerous financial taboos.
This compelling and emotional documentary retraces Giannini’s life through the testimonies of those who knew him, witnessed his struggles, and believed in his abilities. It aims to provide viewers with a comprehensive portrait of a figure who, despite his immense impact, remains relatively unknown.
Spanning from the California Gold Rush to World War II, Giannini’s story is one of generosity, courage, and humanity. It reflects deeply on ethical values that remain relevant in everyday life.
"A LITTLE FELLOW" is a journey into the life of this benevolent giant of American economics. Through his bank, Giannini succeeded in realizing the concept of true banking democracy, enabling early 20th-century immigrants to achieve the American Dream.
