The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

«Please receive my most cordial wishes of success for your new term in office as the President of the United States of America. Our Countries are united by indissoluble bonds of friendship and collaboration, consolidated through our sharing of democratic values and our common belonging to a rule-based international order.

Said bonds, which essentially include the Euro-Atlantic sphere, are even more vitally important in the current international scenario marked by conflicts and hotbeds of instability. In seeking effective solutions to the serious ongoing crises, Rome confirms its firm will to work concertedly with Washington, both bilaterally and in all multilateral fora, as well as within the framework of the United States-European Union relations.
